ABOUT WLCDG

West Lancashire Cricket Development Group has now been active as a district cricket group since 2003.

The main aim of the group is to act as a driving force to increase structured participation and raise performance standards in all aspects of Cricket throughout West Lancashire.
  • To provide open access to Cricket for all, irrespective of age, gender, sexuality, religion, race or colour.
  • To maximise and facilitate opportunities for players, coaches, officials, local partners and the local community to fulfil their potential, protecting the interests of young people always.
  • To promote and develop Cricket through the provision of quality clubs, coaches, volunteers and facilities – including links with local schools and appropriate local partners.

Since 2017 the scope of West Lancs CDG has expanded to now support fully the Women and Girls sections of our clubs in West Lancs.

Since 2013 we have successfully been the catalyst for the development of recent cricketing stars with most of those junior squads still playing our wonderful sport.

As you can see from the Under 15s county District Final team at Old Trafford in 2013 we have helped develop Jones ( Durham CC ), Hartley ( Lancs CC), Huyton ( Tarleton CC) and missing off this list on the scoreboard is also Lavelle ( Lancs CC), to name only a few of the many success stories.

We currently operate mixed gender District teams at Under 11s and Under 13s and a Women`s open age team. The last 2 years post-covid19 have been fantastic seasons with over 70 boys and girls playing in the U11s and U13s matches and 15 women representing the women`s West Lancs Area.

Many of these players are now on County pathway programmes, MCC squads and Interleague teams; a superb endorsement of WLCDG.

2023 promises to be an exciting year and will certainly continue the WLCDG legacy.
