It feels like a very long time ago, but I was introduced to cricket at about 12 years of age by a PE teacher who was passionate about getting girls playing in male-dominated sports.

She got a few of us together to teach us some basics, put us in touch with some clubs that were open to having girls on their junior teams and it all went from there. I was lucky enough to represent Berkshire County Cricket for several years.

I am an all-rounder but what I love most about the game is fielding. Games are won and lost in the field and it’s the time when you feel most connected as a team.

Since coming back to women’s cricket in 2020, my best performance is 52*, 3-5. Although, favourite achievements have been playing in Lancashire Inter-League and being asked to captain this cracking team!

Flip! This is a big question! Probably… have confidence in yourself. It is reported that four in five females struggle with self-belief (which I can resonate with) but in this game, it goes a long way.

A positive mental attitude in times of adversity can be a real game changer. You are more capable than you give yourself credit for!
