I started playing cricket in 2018 when Tarleton first started a women and girls’ team. I am probably best at batting and wicket keeping though I also like fielding elsewhere, especially mid-wicket. I like to give bowling a go – God loves a trier!
My best performance to date was against Penwortham in a T20 match. I was batter number 2 and stayed in until the 119th ball. I think that contributed to getting Player of the Year at Tarleton!
Cricket is a team game; it takes 11 players giving their all to win. My advice would be to go out and have fun and don’t worry about trying to score big: the single runs are just as important. Watching lots of professional cricket helps with how the game is played (and admiring the England players is a bonus!)
