Michael Fairhurst is aiming to raise £300 to help Women’s mental health by supporting & developing women & girls cricket in West Lancashire.
What am I doing?
On the 25th June I have challenged myself to complete an endurance swim. A 5.25 mile, end to end swim of Lake Coniston in the Lake District. I have previously done a few triathlons but never anything long distance and swimming is definitely my weakest discipline.
Why?
Supporting the mental and physical wellbeing of children (and adults) has never been more important.
My daughter has been playing cricket as a member of Tarleton Tornados women’s cricket team since their inception 5years ago.
Through the hard work and support of members of this club she has developed both as an individual and as a player and has gone on to represent West Lancashire in a mixed gender team.
Until this year however, there was never a stand alone female West Lancashire team.
Cricket as a team sport, as well as offering physical health benefits can also bring other benefits and opportunities such as cooperation, communication, resilience, support, commitment, meeting new people and making new friends and learning how to cope with winning and losing!
I have seen my daughter grow and mature as an individual and I have seen the impact that team sport can achieve.
If you feel you can support me and help raise funds to support women’s mental health by developing West Lancashire women and girls cricket and enrich their playing experience, THANK YOU for any support you can offer.
