West Lancs Development Group’s women and girls team are building up to their groundbreaking tour of Barbados.

Final preparations are being put in behind the scenes and in the nets, as the team prepares to represent West Lancs overseas for the first time.

Damian Owen, Chair of WLCDG said, “It is a great opportunity for us to have this tour going to Barbados because it gives all the women and girls opportunities that they wouldn’t naturally get here in Lancashire.

“One of the great advantages of doing this tour is some of the cultural development that will go on there, and the relationships that we’re hoping to build with some of the Barbados women and girls cricketers.”

Current Lancashire Thunder captain and wicketkeeper, Ellie Threlkeld, is signed up for the tour to add her expertise – and will be coaching and mentoring the side.

She said: “I’m most looking forward to getting stuck in, doing some coaching in the sun, and spending some time with good people.”

The tour begins on October 20th, returning on October 29th.
