My cricket journey began when my good friend Sarah said, “Do you fancy playing cricket?” I’d never played before but thought, what the heck! Why not? Never looked back!

I started playing cricket in 2018 when Tarleton first started a women and girls’ team. I am probably best at batting and wicket keeping though I also like fielding elsewhere, especially mid-wicket. I like to give bowling a go – God loves a trier!

Dad plays cricket and I became a scorer when I was 12 years old which sparked my interest in the game. When outdoor sports were allowed again after the pandemic, I decided to try the women’s cricket training and really enjoyed it and so my cricket journey began!

I began playing cricket when I was in year 4 at school and wanted to try a team sport.

My first game was when I was about 10 years old, away against Longridge. My brother’s team needed an extra player, so I was roped in on the day, despite wearing a dress! It was obviously a good decision because we went on to win the match!

I am in my sixth year of playing cricket and have represented my school and district at U11s and U13s as a right-handed batter and bowler.

The initial reason for beginning as a cricketer in 2018, was really to be an awesome mum! My two sons played, and I wanted to be able to play with them.

It feels like a very long time ago, but I was introduced to cricket at about 12 years of age by a PE teacher who was passionate about getting girls playing in male-dominated sports.
